Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The amount of loan waiver will be transferred to the accounts of 4,83,016 eligible farmers registered before March 10, 2019, under the Jai Kisan Crop Loan Waiver Scheme.
The Election Commission of India has granted approval to the proposal of the state government. The benefit of this decision will be given to the farmers of those districts, where the process of voting has been completed under Lok Sabha Elections-2019.
As per the approval given by the Election Commission of India due to procedural reasons the benefit of the scheme could not be given before march 15, 2019 to the 4,83,016 eligible farmers registered before March 10, 2019.
As a result of the permission given by the Commission, the loan waiver of these farmers has been linked to the process of getting credit in the upcoming agricultural season. It may be noted here that under the Jai Kisan Crop Loan Waiver Scheme, it was decided by the state government to waive the ongoing/PA and timeless/NPA loan upto Rs. 2 lakhs of account holders of crop loan as on March 31, 2018.
Of the total 51.61 lakh applications received in the scheme, 24.83 lakh applicants were eligible for loan accounts. The amount of loan waiver was transferred into the accounts of 20 lakh farmers till March 10, 2019.
However, the amount of loan waiver could not be transferred into the accounts of remaining 4,83,016 farmers due to issuance of notification of election.
