THANE: The district sessions court convicted an autorickshaw driver and a woman for sex trafficking and sentenced them to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment (RI).
Shivnath Pal Yadav and Rajani Thakur Karnawat were convicted by Judge P P Jadhav. Two others arrested in the 2007 sex trafficking case were acquitted by the court.
The prosecution said that following a complaint by an NGO about a flourishing sex trade, CBI officials raided a hotel in Thane city on April 25, 2007 subsequent to a confirmation of the illegitimate acts by their decoy.
