1 killed, another injured as truck hits their bike

Gurgaon: A man was killed and his colleague suffered injuries when a mini truck hit their bike from behind in the Sector 74A area on Tuesday afternoon. The truck driver managed to escape but left his vehicle on the spot.
Police have taken it into custody. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver at the Farrukhnagar police station.
According to police, the accident took place in front of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) office in Sector 74A around 4pm on Tuesday when Pankaj and Ravinder Kumar were travelling on their Splendor motorcycle. Both of them work as sample collection executives with Lal Path Lab.
According to the complaint filed by Ravinder, they were supposed to collect samples from the lab around 3pm. When they were near the TCS building, a speeding mini truck came from behind them and hit their bike.
“Pankaj was driving the motorcycle and in the accident, he suffered fatal injuries on his left hand and leg. The truck driver managed to flee. Our bike was completely damaged in the accident. I, somehow, arranged a private vehicle and rushed Pankaj to Rockland Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival’,” Ravinder said.

An FIR has been registered against the truck driver under sections 279 (rash driving), 427 (causing damage) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at the Farrukhnagar police station.
Police said that with the help of the truck’s registration number, they were trying to identify the accused driver and he would be arrested soon. “We handed over the body to the deceased’s family after a post-mortem on Wednesday,” a police officer said.
