Terms Edappadi government anti-people, useless

DMK president M.K. Stalin on Wednesday urged the voters of four Assembly constituencies, where bypolls are due on May 19, to vote out the AIADMK government.

“The government led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami is anti-people. The Chief Minister is not bothered about the people and their welfare. He has to be sent back home, along with the BJP government at the Centre. The voters have to consider the May 19 vote as a crucial opportunity to end the AIADMK regime in the State,” Mr. Stalin said, while seeking votes for the DMK candidate for Aravakurichi constituency, V. Senthil Balaji, at Malaikovilur.

Coming down heavily on Mr. Palaniswami, Mr. Stalin described him as ‘useless’ and as a ‘slave’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that he had done nothing for the development of the State. He had managed to hang on to power with the support of Mr. Modi. The AIADMK government should no longer be allowed to continue in office, he said.

Terming Mr. Modi an autocrat, the DMK president said it was certain that the people had voted against the BJP government in the State and in other parts of the country. There will definitely be a change of guard at the Centre, he claimed.

Questioning Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam for failing to appear before the Justice Arumughaswamy (Retd.) Commission probing former CM Jayalalithaa's death, Mr. Stalin said the Commission was set up based on the demand of Mr. Panneerselvam. But he himself ignored the summons served on him several times. It was ridiculous, he said.
