PM promises to abolish 5-acre ceiling

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the five-acre land ceiling in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna (PM-KISAN) would be abolished when his government comes back to power after May 23.
PM-KISAN is an initiative of the NDA government in which 120 million small and marginal farmers with less than five acres of land holding will get up to Rs. 6,000 per year as minimum income support.
“The benefit of PM-KISAN scheme is going to the accounts of the farmers. Those who have not received the benefit as yet would get it soon,” Modi said at an election rally in Kuddupur village of Jaunpur on Thursday.

He added, “Presently, the benefit of this scheme is reaching to the farmers who have land holdings up to five acre. May 23 ko nateje aane ke baad ek bar phir Modi sarkar ban jayega. Is sarkar mein paanch acre wali seema samapt karke sabhi kisano ko is yojna ka labh diya jayega (Modi government will be formed again after the announcement of election results on May 23. The new government will end the limit of five-acre land and the benefit will go to all farmers).”
Targeting SP-BSP alliance, he said that it has failed in the game of vote transfer.
