On Thursday, a Brisbane Supreme Court jury found Daniel Luke White Mayne guilty of an alternate charge of attempted striking to resist arrest over a shoot out with police in January 2017
Squires and Constable Simeon Pickering tried to arrest White-Mayne for suspected stealing at a Surfers Paradise apartment block when things turned ugly.
'(White-Mayne) pulled out a gun. It was held in a position that, to me, was ready to fire.'
Const Squires told the court she thought she was going to die after shooting White-Mayne in the thigh, scrotum and foot in response.
She said she remembers seeing the gun 'very close' to her face.
After shooting at him four times, her gun jammed and he yelled 'you shot me' and fired a shot at her.
She fled from White-Mayne, who she said words to the effect of 'you're gonna die' or 'you're going to cop this, you dog c**t'.
'I thought then I was going to die,' she said.

Body camera footage taken by Const Pickering played on the first day of the trial showed the incident, and the sound of several gunshots can be heard.
White-Mayne's defence said he never intended to kill the policewoman, and claimed 'he was just trying to scare them so he could get away.'
White-Mayne remains in custody, and the matter was adjourned to May 24 to determine a date for a sentencing.
