Three people, including the husband of a village head, were arrested in Maharashtra's district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man to help him in a property matter, the Anti-Bureau (ACB) said.

(36) and the village sarpanch's husband (42) allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the man, who owned a 'chawl' (old style tenement), to help him in a tax related issue, the ACB said in a release.

The man agreed to pay the amount and at the same time lodged a complaint with the ACB, it said.

The anti-graft agency laid a trap and caught one Dileep Deshmukh (27) on Wednesday while he was accepting Rs 50,000 on behalf of the other two accused at the panchayat office, the release said.

The ACB said when the complainant went to pay the money, the accused increased the demand to Rs 1 lakh and accepted Rs 50,000 as the first installment.

Later, the ACB also managed to arrest Shelke and Madavi who were present near the spot, the release said.

All the three accused were booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Act, it added.
