BENGALURU: After roping in a German data analytics firm to improve planning efficiency and terminal operations at
Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), the
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) is now looking to design and operate a new
Airport Operational Data Base (AODB) system to support its growth.
As of April 2019, KIA handles approximately 630 aircraft movements and serves 91,480 passengers daily. It is expected to cater to 65 million passengers per annum by 2024/25 and 80 to 90 million passengers in next 10 years. A request for information (RFI) was published by BIAL recently inviting vendors with experience on the design, development, testing, implementation, integration, operation and maintenance of the airport operational date base (AODB).
AODB is the primary data repository dealing with details of operational activities such as time for touchdown, on gate, off gate, takeoff, aircraft registration, number of passengers, cargo, parking stand, baggage information and ground services required.
BIAL plans to integrate the new AODB system with upcoming systems such as Digi Yatra — which will enable facial recognition bio-metric boarding and the flight information display system (FIDS).
