BEST double decker badly damaged in mishap, none injured

MUMBAI: A double decker bus met with an accident near Vakola bridge service road on Western Express Highway in the wee hours of Thursday.
The bus was not ferrying any passengers and the driver and conductor did not sustain any injuries, officials said.
The double decker was badly damaged as it dashed the overhead gantry bar near starting point of Vakola bridge, said a BEST official.

“The bus, which is attached to Kurla bus depot, was proceeding from Marol depot to Kurla depot during wee hours. The front three seats on the upper deck have been damaged in the incident. It also mangled the front exterior portion on the upper deck,” the official said, adding that an inquiry will be conducted to ascertain the cause and driver, Anand Vibhute, is being probed after the incident.
The BEST will also check if there was human error or technical problem which led to the mishap.
