Mamata insulting country's Constitution, says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  has insulted the Constitution by saying that he does consider him the country's Prime Minister. 

" In desperation she is insulting the Constitution. She said that she does not consider country's Prime Minister as the Prime Minister but she is proudly considering the Prime Minister of Pakistan as a Prime Minister," Mr Modi said addressing a rally at Bankura. 

Speaking at the rally at Gopiballavpur Ms Banerjee has said  on April 29 that she does not consider Modi as the Prime Minister , “I do not consider him Prime Minister now. When the new Prime Minister comes, we will speak with that person”, Ms Banerjee had said.

Gandhi family used INS Viraat as ‘personal taxi’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Gandhi family of using warship INS Viraat as its “personal taxi” for a holiday when Rajiv Gandhi was at the helm, launching a fresh attack on the late Congress leader days after throwing the “Bhrashtachari No. 1” barb at him.

Addressing his first poll rally in Delhi ahead of the May 12 elections for all its seven seats, Mr. Modi launched a scathing counter-attack on the Congress, asking why it fumed when he exposed the “misdeeds” of its leaders in whose name it often seeks votes.

Big star cast in two Bihar phases

Five Union Ministers from the BJP are in the fray in Bihar in the final two phases of the Lok Sabha election on May 12 and 19. One of them is contesting against actor Shatrughan Sinha and another against Misa Bharti, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad.

The BJP is contesting nine of the 16 seats going to the polls in the two phases in the State.

In East Champaran, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is pitted against mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) candidate Aakash Singh (Rashtriya Lok Samata Party), son of the chairman of the Congress’s campaign committee of the State unit, Akhilesh Singh.

As diplomat-turned-politician Hardeep Singh Puri makes his foray into electoral battle with the aim of wresting the Amritsar seat from the Congress, the focus for his party, the BJP, remains on national security and pro-Sikh initiatives taken by the Union government. Residents, however, feel that politicians should focus on addressing “local” problems.

Gurjeet Singh Aujla, sitting Congress MP, is seen facing anti-incumbency as his opponents are targeting the Congress government in the State on account of several promises made during the 2017 Assembly election but not kept.
