Durfee struck for four first-inning runs and that was more than enough for Hilltopper pitcher Ethan Ferreira, who allowed two hits in Durfee's 6-1 baseball victory over Bishop Stang on Thursday.

Jose Arrieta had a run-scoring double, while Ismael Moreno and Curtis Perry added RBI singles in Durfee's opening frame.

The big story, however, was Ferreira, who went the distance and struck out six, while allowing the two hits. He walked two and the run the Spartans scored was unearned.

That run came in the third when Connor Walsh singled home Ben Saunders.

Durfee added a run in the sixth on a Brayden Bustin RBI double, and tacked on one in the seventh on a run-scoring single by Kevin Metevier.

Bustin, Moreno and Alex Dominguez all had two hits for the Toppers, who collected 10.

Luke Bala accounted for the other hit for the Spartans, who fell to 8-4.
