lok sabha elections Updated: May 09, 2019 11:24 ISTFormer Bihar chief minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “jallad (executioner)” and accusing him of “killing judges and journalists”.
Rabri made the remarks when asked by reporters to react to Congress leader’s Priyanka Gandhi’s jibe at Modi that he was “Duryodhan”.
“Priyanka was wrong in describing Modi as Duryodhan. He is a ‘jallad’ as he gets judges and journalists killed and intimidates people. One can imagine what kind of a mindset the person has. He is violent,” Rabri Devi said in Patna.
The former CM went on to label BJP and JD(U) leaders “insects of a gutter”, adding in the same breath that the language they used was abhorrent. In a previous tweet, Rabri Devi had obliquely referred to BJP national president Amit Shah as “cannibal”.
Asked for his comment, senior JD(U) leader K C Tyagi said, “I will not like to comment. She is a former chief minister. If she has spoken such words, it is her choice,” he said.
On Tuesday, JD(U)’s Sanjay Singh had compared Misa Bharti, Lalu Yadav’s eldest daughter and RJD nominee from Patliputra constituency, to “Surpanakha (Ravan’s sister)”.
Tej Pratap pipes down
Meanwhile, after defying party line with his belligerence so far, RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s elder son and Mahua MLA Tej Pratap Yadav on Wednesday appeared to be trying to make amends with his younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav against whom he had been hostile in recent days.
In a tweet posted from his official account on Wednesday, Tej Pratap said his brother was his ”support” and ”strength” while praising him for taking all responsibilities and challenges to keep the family intact. “Whenever adversity befalls me, my brother is there to take care of me. He always works keeping in mind that I and my family stay happy,” the Mahua MLA wrote in an emotional post.
Insiders said Tej Pratap’s conciliatory tone has come after he had to face the ire of workers in Danapur last Sunday when he started a fight with party leaders for not putting his photograph in the party’s banners. RJD leaders claimed his hostile behaviour with the younger brother was not being accepted by the party’s rank and file.
So far, Tej Pratap has not campaigned with Tejashwi Yadav for the Lok Sabha polls.
