Differently abled students in the Coimbatore district registered a pass percentage of 96.03 % in Plus One examinations, the results which was announced on Wednesday.
The ‘others’ category among the differently abled candidates secured 100% pass percentage, Education Department officials said. Visually challenged candidates secured a pass percentage of 95.65 %, hearing and speech impaired students secured 91.89 pass percentage and physically challenged students secured 97.22 pass percentage.
In the subject groups in Tiruppur, Commerce group students secured the highest pass percentage with 98.65 %. Science and vocational groups came second and third respectively, while Arts group ranked the last in terms of pass percentage with 94.35.
Education Department officials in Coimbatore said that all the four education districts have secured pass percentages exceeding 95%. Coimbatore educational district ranked first with 97.98 pass percentage. Perur and S.S. Kulam educational districts came second and third with 97.70 % and 97.65 % respectively and Pollachi educational district ranked last with 96.79 pass percentage.
While Government, Municipal, Aided and Matriculation schools in Tiruppur saw an overall increase in their respective pass percentages from last year, self-finance schools saw a dip of 0.14% in their pass percentage – from 99.36 in 2018 to 99.22 in 2019, officials said.
In Coimbatore, 190 students failed in three subjects and 170 students failed in four subjects. 85 students failed in all six subjects. The total number of students who failed one or more subjects were 785, officials said.
