Collingwood star Dayne Beams is battling a hip complaint and is a 50-50 proposition for Saturday's match against Carlton.

The Magpies have already lost fellow onballer Taylor Adams (groin) for up to a month and may be forced into a couple of changes for Saturday's clash at the MCG.

Ruckman Mason Cox has also been ruled out with his ankle injury.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley is yet to rule out Beams, who rejoined Collingwood this year after a stint at the Brisbane Lions.

"He wasn't able to do the session today, which would count against him in some shape or form but there's still a couple of days for us to go yet,"  Buckley told reporters.
