Nandani Mahajan of Bal Vidya Mandir school tops in sports quota in PSEB 10th exam

Nandani Mahajan of Bal Vidya Mandir High School,Nangal Kotli,Mandi Gurdaspur stood first in sports quota in the state in the class 10 result of the Punjab School Education Board declared on Wednesday.

She shares the top position in the sports quota with two other students namely Ritika and Niraj Yadav of Ludhiana.

She scored 100 per cent marks (650 out of 650).Rabia of the said school scoring 645/650 marks shares the third position in the state in the sports quota with Kamalpreet Kaur of Ludhiana.

It was a festive day on Wednesday in the said school of Gurdaspur as the shouts of joy of the students of the school with a strength of 557 students were rending the sky.

This achievement was not a new one this year to the school as it has already produced state toppers in the class 10 in the previous years too.

Nandani Mahajan,daughter of a house wife Manisha Mahajan and Raj Kumar who runs a small grocery shop in the city,aims at becoming an IAS officer.She said that she wants to earn a big name and fame for her family.Speaking on her source of inspiration,she said that she is impressed by the great personalities appearing in different shows of different channels on the television.

She won the silver medal in the state sqay martial art championship organised by the Punjab School Education Board in Patiala from October 29 to November 3 last year.In sqay martial art,the girls are taught self defence using a stick.She told that she totally depended on the school study and self study as she never took tuitions in any of the subjects.She said that English and Maths are his favourite subjects and she likes to deliver speeches for which she has won many medals in various district level competitions.

Rabia,who has achieved the third rank,is the state as well as national champion of 2018-19 in the sqay martial art.

In the sports quota,15 marks are added to the total marks obtained by the student in the class 10 examination who have bagged first three positions in the state in the respective games.

Rabia,daughter of a house wife Kajal and a Punjab Police Head Constable Naresh Kumar wants to pursue higher studies for a medical career.

Both Nandani and Rabia thanked their school head Rita Mahajan and other teachers who took great pains to shape them into brilliant students and future good citizens.EOM
