The School Education Department has extended the provisional recognition held by primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the State till May 31, 2020.
In a government order dated May 6, Pradeep Yadav, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, said the Directorate of Matriculation Schools (DMS) had appealed for the extension of temporary recognition to schools to ensure that students are not affected.
Schools that were built before 2011 had been asked to get their building plans approved by either the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) or the Local Planning Authority (LPA) or the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). Several schools which had been functioning without the same had been granted a provisional recognition. They were earlier given a deadline of May 31, 2019.
