New at six tonight -- it's teacher appreciation week --but it's been more of a áyeará of appreciation for ferris high school's mandy manning --who's wrapping up her time as national teacher of the year.

Manning works with refugee and immigrant students at ferris's newcomer center.she started the year off handing letters from those students to president trump --and she hasn't slowed down since.

But she found time today to sit down with our taylor graham --to look back on the last year.

Manning says this year has been equal parts incredible and exhausting --so this august, she's ready to go from being mandy the teacher of the year --to just mandy the teacher.
