Jharkhand girls have outperformed boys for both ICSE (Class-10) and ISC (Class-12) examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), results of which declared on Tuesday.

This year, altogether 11,968 students appeared for the Class-10 ICSE examination, of which of 5,683 were girls and 6,285 were boys. Of the total, 11,794 students passed the examination with flying colours. While the girls’ pass percentage was 99% in the examination, 98.14% boys cleared the exams.

Total three students grabbed the top slot and jointly became the state toppers. Sarthak Singh, a student of St. Francis School, Jasidih, Vedika Chandra, student of Gulmohur High School, Jamshedpur and Sounak Banjerjee of Kerala Samajam Model School, Jamshedpur achieved 99% marks in aggregates.

Two Ranchi students, Nandini Choudhary of Loreto Convent School, Doranda, and Navneet Raj of St. Thomas School, Dhurwa, achieved 98.80% marks in aggregate and become second state toppers.

The state’s third slot was grabbed by three students, Ayush Singh of Little Flower School, Jamshedpur, Shubhangi Singh of Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur and Alisha of St. Thomas School, Dhurwa with 98.60 marks in aggregate.

ICSE Ranchi coordinator Father Ajit Xess said, “Students have done well this year. We are happy with their performance.”

ISC Results

In Class-12 ISC examinations, a total of 4,824 candidates including 2,462 boys and 2,362 girls had appeared for the examinations. Altogether 4,630, means 95.98%, students cleared the examinations.

However, girls have outshone boys in the examination. While 97.12% girls passed the examination, boys pass percentage was at 94.88%.

In science stream, two students Marshneil Prasad, student of Sacred Heat Convent School, Jamshedpur and Rishav Kumar of Motilal Nehru Public School, Jamshedpur, shared the top position with securing 99% marks in aggregate and became state toppers.

Shaivi Goyal, student of Carmel School, Digwadih became state topper in commerce stream with security 99.75% marks, while Srishti Vaidya of Loyla School, Jamshedpur bagged the top position in arts stream (Humanity) scoring 99.75% marks in aggregate.

Shaivi claimed that she was the second country topper in science topper. “I never studied to become a topper but to give my 100% in study,” she said.
