Vadodara district sees little rise in HSC science stream result

Vadodara: Vadodara district saw a little increase in the passing percentage as the results of class X science stream exam conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) were declared on Thursday.
Last year, Vadodara had a passing percentage of 75.16%, while this year it improved marginally to 75.98% This year, a total of 7,077 students had registered for the examination of whom 7,047 had appeared and 5,354 students cleared securing ‘E1’ and above grade.
Unlike last year, the number of students who had secured A1 grade was 22. In 2018, only 12 students had passed with A1 grade. Students who cleared the exam with A2 grade were 277, with B1 grade were 698 and B2 grade were 1,090. Those securing C1 grade were 1,493 and 1,437 students passed with C2 grade. The students securing D grade were 336 while only one student received E1 grade. 1,693 students were added to needs improvement category.
The results sparked celebrations in several households. “It was like a festive day for us. My son’s hard work of all these months yielded fruits today,” said Vikram Bhavsar, whose son Hardik secured 99.63 percentile. Bhavsar works in a small shop in Bajwada near Mandvi. Hardik said that he now plans to take up aeronautical engineer for which he even received a scholarship of Rs 80,000 from the state government.

Parents of Yesha Chauhan are also brimming with pride. Chauhan, a student of Shannen School, scored 99.94 percentile and wants to become a doctor. Her both parents are gynaecologists in the city.
Of the nine examination centres in Vadodara district, Dabhoi examination centre once again registered lowest (47.3%) pass percentage and Fatehgunj again registered highest (86.6) pass spercentage.
