Puducherry has recorded a pass percentage of 94.78 in the Plus One board exam results announced on Wednesday, which is an increase of 5.43 percentage points over the pass percentage of 89.35 last year.
According to a press release of the Directorate of School Education, out of 14,855 students who appeared for the examinations, 14,080 cleared it, accounting for an overall pass percentage of 94.78.
Schools in Puducherry region achieved a pass percentage of 95.09 as against 90.45 last year.
In Puducherry, 12,512 students — 5,947 boys and 6,565 girls — appeared for the examination. Of this, 11,898 — 5,563 boys and 6,335 girls — cleared the examination. The pass percentage in government and private schools was 88.64 and 99.18 respectively.
In Karaikal region, 1,002 students – 629 boys and 373 girls – appeared for the examination. Of these, 902 students — 548 boys and 354 girls — cleared it. The pass percentage in Karaikal was 93.13, which was an increase of 9.75 percentage points over 83.38 registered last year.
As has been the case for several years, girls outperformed boys in the overall pass percentage boasting a figure of 96.32 while boys secured a pass percentage of 93.03.
The results show that 55 private schools have registered 100% pass and five government schools have registered 100% pass in Puducherry. Four private schools in Karaikal secured 100 per cent.
Thirty eight students scored full marks in various subjects. This includes 18 in Accountancy, nine in Computer Applications, five in Computer Science, two each in Chemistry and Economics and one each in Commerce and Business Maths.
Good show by Cuddalore
Cuddalore district has registered a pass percentage of 89.76. As many as 29,930 students appeared for the examination. Of these, 26,865 students — 11,958 boys and 14,907 girls — cleared the examination registering a pass percentage of 86.93 and 92.17 respectively.
Villupuram district has registered a pass percentage of 91.21. As many as 38,481 students appeared for the examination. Of these, 35,100 students — 18,181 boys and 20,300 girls — cleared the exams registering a pass percentage of 88.84 and 93.34 respectively.
