Many of the pictures contain highly inappropriate and offensive comments from viewers, describing the girls in sexual terms and commenting on their body parts.

Several people have reported the page to Facebook but it has not been removed.

Daily Mail Australia has decided not to name the Facebook page to protect the children pictured.

Other viewers, fearing a crime is being committed, have tagged various international police agencies in the comments despite the fact that the page is Russian.

There have been dozens of complaints about the page - and one Facebook user even claimed it was fake and was being used by paedophiles to meet each other and buy children.

The woman wrote: 'Everyone go look at this page and report it! It's a fake page pretending to be about gymnastics but it's really for men to buy little girls and to meet other pedophiles.

She added: 'If you don't believe me, go to the page and click any post and read the comments. They are bold af on there and not hiding at all what they're doing!

'They even are advertising what age girls they like, what kind of little boys they like, and all. Please help get this page shut down!'

The page belongs to a Russian website which describes itself as a 'community of athletes and dancers'.

The website says it has a 'school' to help teach young young gymnasts how to manage their social media profiles to build their fame.

It reads: 'Audience will help motivate a child to develop in sports or dance. When tens of thousands of people rejoice and admire your success, it inspires.'

Daily Mail Australia could not access the website's contact information and the group does not allow messages to its Facebook page.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Facebook and the Australian Federal Police for comment.
