AGRA: Mocking Prime minister Narendra Modi's famous
‘pakora’ remark, a group of ex-students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), who have been protesting against the alleged flawed PhD admission process, opened a 'pakora stall at their
dharna site on Thursday to highlight the issue of unemployment.
Sharing their grievances with the media, the protestors, mainly PhD aspirants who have been sitting on dharna for the past 24 days, said that they have nothing else to do except sell
‘pakoras’ and follow the PM’s advice.
One of the PhD aspirants, Aquib Khursheed, said, “We had given PhD entrance examination but due to irregularities in the process, we were not given admission.” He added that they have informed the VC, but the issue has not been taken seriously by him.
“We will sit here till our demands are met. This is the first time in the history of AMU that a dharna is going on during Ramzan and administration is ignoring the issue,” Khursheed said.
Another student from AMU, Adil Farooqui, said that their ongoing protest is related to the alleged irregularities in the PhD course. He asked, “What should we do when the administration is not prepared to listen to us.”
Farooqi said that if the VC calls this dharna illegal, then he should send all the protestors to jail.
