Ajay Parmar was caught ferrying IMFL in his car near GIDC estate
Vadodara: Ajay Parmar, a resident of Manjalpur, had planned a feast with his family members to celebrate his 24th birthday on Tuesday. But luck was not on his side and he had to spend the birthday in the lock-up of Manjalpur police station.
Parmar, who works as a labourer in a company in Makarpura GIDC, was caught ferrying Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in his car near GIDC estate on Tuesday afternoon. A team Manjalpur police had received information about Parmar following which they had kept a watch in the locality.
When Parmar drove towards the cops, his car was cordoned and checked. Police found 36 bottles of liquor from him which he was planning to sell to individual customers. Parmar was then taken to Manjalpur police station where he was interrogated. He told police that he had bought the stock from one Jitendra Salunke.

During interrogation, while noting his personal details policemen learnt that it was his birthday. “We were also surprised that it was his birthday, but he had committed a crime,” said sub-inspector V D Zala of Manjalpur police station. He added that the Parmar was not going to use the liquor for his personal revelry but only for selling it.
Parmar also told police that he took to bootlegging to earn some extra money. The money that he was earning from the labour job at Makarpura GIDC was not enough for his family so he had decided to sell liquor as a side business. Parmar spent the entire night in the lock-up and was produced before a local court on Wednesday. Police had requested Parmar’s custody, but their plea was rejected and he was granted bail.
