A Ton of Americans Want to Start Their Own Business (But Here's Why They Haven't Yet)

While two in five Americans dream of the day they can quit their job…????For many, it has less to do with hating the boss and more about wanting to be one.????Since 67 percent of us aspire to be an entrepreneur.????OnePoll conducted a survey of 23,500 respondents from 24 countries — including 2,000 Americans — on behalf of Herbalife Nutrition.????The biggest reason for starting a business is following a passion…????Followed by people wanting to be their own boss, to support their family or to help the world or solve a problem.????Still, 76 percent of respondents admit they may never be able to take the leap…????Which is higher than the 69 percent global average in the Herbalife Nutrition study.????The initial cost is far and away the biggest barrier to entry with 64 percent…????Compared to the 38 percent who either worry their business wouldn’t turn or profit or that they wouldn’t have enough support in financing or market knowledge.????That said, six in 10 Americans say starting a business in the US is easier than abroad.????And, hey, coming up with a business plan doesn’t cost you anything.
