Man Ticketed By Police For Using ‘Dummy’ To Try & Drive In HOV Lane

Don’t try to pull a fast one on police on Long Island, New York.

A Centereach man found out the hard way when he was caught using a makeshift dummy to drive in the high-occupancy vehicle lane.

The Suffolk County Police Department reported a highway patrolman became suspicious of a so called passenger in a 2002 Saturn sedan that was driving in the high-occupancy vehicle lane on the Long Island Expressway.

The officer pulled the car over and soon discovered the passenger was a phony.

The dummy consisted of an unshapely rubber mask, sunglasses, jacket, hoodie, jeans and for some reason two water bottles on it’s lap, I guess in case it gets thirsty.

The driver was given a $150 ticket for illegally using the HOV lane, according to Fox News.

But if you think this is the first time something like this has happened, the Long Island press reported there have been 5 similar instances since 1994 where drivers have tried to use dummies and dolls to drive in the HOV lane on the Long Island Expressway.

Well, fool me once shame on you, fool me 5 times….maybe I really am the dummy.
