PATNA: Girls once again outshone boys in the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were declared by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Tuesday.
Anushka Dasgupta of St Joseph's Convent High School (SJCHS), Bankipore has emerged as the state topper with 99% in Class XII (humanities), according to a merit list issued by the CISCE. Tilak Bhardwaj of Mt Assisi School, Bhagalpur scored 98.75% and Shreya Agarwal of SJCHS 98.5%.
In ICSE, Varuni Vats of SJCHS, Shambhavi Singh of Don Bosco Academy-Patna and Harshit Raj of St Joseph's School-Banka scored 99% each to emerge as joint state toppers. Isha Rani of St Joseph's School, Banka scored 98.8% while Sakshi Dokania and Shambhavi Shanker, both from St Joseph's School-Bhagalpur got 98.6%.
Chief executive and secretary of CISCE Gerry Arathoon said the overall pass percentage in classes X and XII in
Bihar stood at 98.54% and 98.3%, respectively. "Like last year, the girls outperformed boys in both the exams. The pass percentage of girls was 98.94% in Class X and 98.34 in Class XII against 98.22% in both classes by boys," he said.
Altogether 4,804 students, including 2,164 girls, had appeared for
ICSE exam and 1,056 students, including 663 girls, for ISC exam from the state. Altogether 18 flunked in ISC and 70 in ICSE in the state.
According to a press release issued by the Council, 198 scheduled caste candidates took the examination and achieved a pass percentage of 98.99% in Class X. Similarly, 77 scheduled tribe (ST) candidates appeared for the ICSE exam and 96.10% of them passed. Of the 1,732 other backward classes candidates who took the examination, 97.92% passed in Class X.
In ISC, the pass percentage of SC was 97.22%, ST 93.94% and OBC 99.09%.
