Lahore: A powerful blast outside a famous Sufi shrine in Pakistan’s Lahore on Wednesday killed at least four and wounded 15 others as the country marks the fasting month of Ramzan.

The blast took place close to the Data Darbar, one of the largest shrines in South Asia.

City police chief Ghazanfar Ali said police officers were the apparent target of the bombing outside the shrine. He also said hundreds of pilgrims were inside and outside the shrine when the blast took place.

TV footage showed a badly damaged police vehicle that authorities said was the target.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the nature of the blast.

Pakistanis in large numbers visit the shrine, where a pair of suicide attacks in 2010 killed and wounded dozens of people.

This is a breaking story. More updates are awaited.
