Agra: Man arrested for attempt to rape of minor girl

AGRA: A restaurant waiter was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly trying to rape an 11-year-old girl who had come to the eatery, which is just a stone’s throw away from the Taj Mahal, to buy food.
Accused Maqsood (25) was booked under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incident took place around 3:30am in Tajganj. According to the victim’s elder sister, Maqsood dragged her sister to the backyard of the restaurant and forced himself upon her.
“Maqsood took my sister to the backyard on the pretext of giving roti and attempted to rape her. He groped and undressed her, and forced himself on her. In order to escape, my sister bit his wrist and ran way. When she returned home, she narrated the entire incident to us after which we called the local police.”

After the incident, the accused was taken to police station and the 11-year-old victim was sent for medical examination.
Speaking to TOI, Vikas Kumar Jaiswal, circle officer of Sadar said, “The accused has been arrested. After the medical examination, we will present the girl to a local court to record her statement under 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.”
