Share market update: Metal shares decline; Vedanta dips over 2%

NEW DELHI: Most metal shares were trading in the negative zone in Wednesday's morning session.

Shares of Vedanta (down 2.11 per cent), Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 1.92 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 1.70 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (down 0.97 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

National Aluminium Company (down 0.89 per cent), Tata Steel (down 0.73 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 0.47 per cent) and MOIL (down 0.47 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.47 per cent down at 2966.25 around 10:41 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 82.40 points at 11,415.50 while the BSE Sensex was down 266.88 points at 38,009.75.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, DHFL, YES Bank, ZEEL, Vedanta, Dish TV India, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Capital, Tata Motors and PC Jeweller were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
