Senate intel committee subpoenas Trump Jr.: sources

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell may be ready to move on from the Russia investigation… But the Senate Intelligence Committee has some questions for the president’s eldest son.

Two congressional sources said on Wednesday that the Republican-led committee has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr to come back to answer questions about the younger Trump's contacts with Russia.

The panel, a source says, is seeking to question Jr. about his 2017 closed-door congressional testimony on his involvement in a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

Jr. told the committee that he was only peripherally aware of talks on the Moscow Trump Tower project, but President Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen testified that he briefed Trump family members "approximately 10 times" about the project, and that Donald Junior and his sister Ivanka were among the family members he briefed.

A lawyer for Donald Trump Jr. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
