For the first time since ultimately being acquitted of the 2007 murder and sexual assault of her roommate, Amanda Knox is returing to Italy.
????Fox News reports that Knox is set to attend a conference aimed at helping people who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes.
????Knox tweeted, "The Italy Innocence Project didn't yet exist when I was wrongly convicted in Perugia."????Adding she was honored to speak at the event and return to Italy for the first time.
????Knox and her former boyfriend were initially convicted in the 2007 murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, but the convictions were annulled in 2015.
????The final ruling by judges cited flaws in the investigation and a lack of evidence proving Knox committed the murder beyond a resonable doubt.
????An event organizer told the ANSA news agency, "We wanted to invite her because we believe that she is an icon of trial by mass media."??
