Vadodara: Thumbing his nose at law, a burglar entered a policeman’s house in Fatehpura area in broad daylight on Tuesday and decamped with booty worth Rs 1.5 lakh including ornaments.
Police constable Vijaysinh Rathod was at his workplace, while his wife had gone to the market when the thieves broke into his house in old police line at Koyalifaliya in Fatehpura. Rathod’s wife Sangeeta lodged an FIR at City police station on Tuesday night.
According to the complainant, Rathod is posted at Varnama police station of Vadodara rural police and had gone to his duty in the morning. She and a neighbour went to Mangal Bazaar at around 1 pm and upon returning home at around 3 pm, she found the lock on the door broken. She checked inside and found that the burglar broke the iron safe in the living room and stole valuables including jewellery from its drawers.
Police said that the stolen jewellery which included necklaces, earrings and rings were worth Rs 1.4 lakh. Besides ornaments, thieves also carted a mobile phone from the house.
