AHMEDABAD: The cyber cell of city crime branch on Tuesday booked a Rajasthan-based man under the Child Pornography Act, for circulating nude pictures and videos of a 17-year-old girl from the city, and posting them on social media.
The accused has been identified as Mahesh Soni (27), from Sirohi district in Rajasthan.
The girl’s parents, residents of Vastral, five days ago approached the cyber cell, stating that she had met Soni around a year ago when she visited her grandparents’ place in Sirohi. Soni befriended her and somehow then clicked the obscene pictures and shot the videos without her knowledge, a cyber cell official said.
Soni then began blackmailing the girl, telling her to have sex with him and when she refused, he posted her pictures and videos on social media and also sent them to some people. “The accused had created a special Facebook account for this and posted the pictures and videos using it,” the official said.

The investigation was handed to a woman sub-inspector, S L Vaghela, and was being monitored by ACP Jitendra Yadav. The cyber cell found that the IP address concerned was from Sirohi in Rajasthan. On the basis of this, the cops nabbed Soni from his house in Sirohi on Monday. Soni confessed to his crime before the cops, officials said.
Police booked Soni under the POCSO (Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences) Act and the Child Pornography Act.
