Proud Harry and Meghan show off Baby Sussex at Windsor Castle
London: The world has been given a peek at Baby Sussex, with proud mum Meghan declaring he has "just been a dream" over the two days since his birth.
Prince Harry carried the sleeping boy into the grand St George's Hall at Windsor Castle with the Duchess of Sussex on his arm, on the way to visit the Queen.
The baby was sleeping quietly, wrapped in a simple white blanket and wearing a white bonnet on a cold and rainy day in England.
"It's magic," a weary but clearly besotted Meghan said of parenthood. "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm.
"It's been a special couple of days."
She said she had "the best two guys in the world so I'm really happy".
And she thanked the public for their wellwishes and kindness, saying it "means so much".
The couple did not reveal a name for the boy at their brief appearance for the cameras.
The couple said they were still trying to work out who the baby took after - Harry said his looks were "changing every single day".
Parenting was "amazing", he said.
"We are just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."
The Queen was due to meet her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle.
The British press were riled by the presence at the Wednesday reveal of an American network camera - from CBS - as a last-minute addition to the small "pool" of local cameras and a Press Association reporter on behalf of the rest of the media.
The Daily Mail reported the American broadcaster was given this privileged access at the request of the couple, and speculated it was because Meghan was friends with a CBS morning show presenter.
The boy was born around dawn on Monday morning, local time, reportedly at the private Portland Hospital in London.
Both Harry and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, were at Meghan's side during the birth. By Monday lunchtime the family were back at Frogmore Cottage, their new (and newly renovated) home on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
On Monday afternoon Harry announced the birth in person, at a tightly controlled appearance in front of the Royal Mews (stables) at Windsor Castle.
"It's been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined," he said.
"How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we're both absolutely thrilled."
The Sun newspaper reported the family's first night at home had been "peaceful and emotional".
On Tuesday Harry's brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate said they hadn't yet met the baby, but would wait a few days "when things have quietened down".
There have been persistent recent rumours of a rift between the brothers, with Kate reportedly recently calling a "crisis meeting" for them to sort out their differences.
But both William and Kate were all smiles on Tuesday.
“I'm very pleased and glad to welcome my brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting,” William said.
Kate said “we’re looking forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be so it’s really exciting for both of them and we wish them all the best.
“These next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time round.”
Grandfather Prince Charles said he was delighted about collecting a “rather large number” of grandchildren.
