At the start of the century, Real Madrid under president Florentino Perez started an ambitious project to assemble some of the most sought after footballers in the world. The club broke the bank several times to get top stars like Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, David Beckham and the likes under one roof. That was called the ‘Galacticos’ era in Madrid’s history.

The next time Madrid broke the bank was to get the trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Kaka to the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo’s departure from the club has led to a lean season in a long time and coach Zinedine Zidane, is now looking to reinforce his line-up on his return to the struggling club to mount a challenge next season.

One of his biggest target this summer is French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe and reports suggest that Real Madrid are preparing a monstrous offer for the Paris Saint Germain footballer. France Football has reported that the offer is said to be an astronomical €280m, which will smash the current world record that PSG paid for Neymar.

Zidane has already guided Madrid to a hat-trick of UEFA Champions League titles and La Liga success and has plans to get Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to the club to start a new chapter for Real Madrid.
