Cobie Smulders is coming back to television, where she rightfully belongs. ABC has just ordered to series a one-hour drama starring the actress. The project was formerly known as Stumptown but is now just the Untitled Cobie Smulders Project. This marks Smulders' first turn in an hourlong drama, as she previously starred in CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother for nine seasons, and more recently starred in two seasons of Netflix comedy Friends from College.

The Untitled Cobie Smulders is based on the Stumptown graphic novel series, with Smulders playing Dex Parios. In an ABC press release, Dex is described as, "strong, assertive, and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of in Portland, Oregon. Her military intelligence skills make her a great P.I., but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police."

The series also stars Tantoo Cardinal as Sue Lynn Blackbird, Cole Sibus as Ansel Parios, Adrian Martinez as Tookie, Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Cosgrove, and Michael Ealy as Det. Miles Hoffman.

Writer Jason Richman is producing the series with Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad, as well as Greg Rucka, author of the Stumptown graphic novel series, and Stumptown illustrators Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood. James Griffiths directed the pilot.
