Mangaluru: Two persons, including a woman, were
killed in a
head-on collision between a
motorbike and a
truck, near
Annalike in
Bantwal taluk, on Wednesday.
According to police, the victims have been identified as Surendra, 33, and his friend Jayalakshmi, 36, both residents of Kumeru. Surendra and Jayalakshmi, who was riding pillion, were coming from Annalike, when a truck moving towards Siddakatte hit the motorbike. The duo, who sustained severe injuries, were rushed to the hospital. Both succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital. Police have arrested truck driver Nagappa Rona, 37.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal traffic police station.
Painter found murdered
A painter was found murdered at a park near State Bank, Hampankatta, on Wednesday morning. According to police, the victim is Sharath, 28, a resident of Viveknagar, Ballalbagh. On Wednesday morning, visitors to the park spotted a dead body inside the park. Police said that he was murdered by an unidentified person by smashing his head with a heavy stone.
Police added that the victim was a painter by profession, and used to work in many places. Police are checking CCTV footage around the park for vital clues. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South police station.
