It stands at 5th place now overall pass percentage in State

Of the 35,760 students, including 15,663 boys and 20,097 girls of 323 schools in the district, who appeared for the public examination held in March last, 34,899 students have passed to register the pass percentage of 97.59.

Of this, 15,110 are boys (pass percentage 96.47) and 19,789 girls (pass percentage 98.47). The government schools in the district have recorded a pass percentage of 95.35.

In the overall pass percentage in the State, Tirunelveli district, which bagged 7th place last year, stands at 5th place now.

Of the 323 schools in the district, 149 schools — 16 government schools, 45 government-aided schools and 88 matriculation higher secondary schools — have recorded cent per cent result.

Those who have failed in the 11th standard public examination can appear for the special supplementary exam to be held in June to clear the arrears and enter Plus Two without carrying forward the arrears.

Kanniyakumari

In neighbouring Kanniyakumari district 21,509 students – 9,738 boys and 11,771 girls out of 22,302 candidates – 10,306 boys and 11,996 girls — appeared for the public examination have passed to record the pass percentage of 96.44.

Thoothukudi

The district has emerged fourth in the State this year on achieving a pass percentage of 97.64.

In 2018, the district had achieved the seventh rank in the State with a pass rate of 95.42%. Among boys, the pass percentage was 96.4 (8,281 out of 8,590), while 98.63% girls (10,547 out of 10,693) cleared the exam.

Kovilpatti educational district had a pass percentage of 96.38, while Thoothukudi and Tiruchendur got pass rates of 98.16 and 98.11 respectively.

A total of 194 schools in the revenue district had 100% pass rate, which includes 21.82% government schools, 36.90% government-aided schools and 66.67% matriculation schools. Two self-financing and CBSE schools each got a clean sweep as well.
