Wide receiver Bruce Ellington, who was signed as a free agent by the Patriots on March 15, was released Wednesday, the team announced.


A sixth-round draft pick in 2014 by San Francisco, the 5-foot-9 Ellington played with the 49ers, Texans and Lions over the last five seasons.
