Helicams to monitor traffic during flower show

Udhagamandalam: The Niligris police department is to use helicams to monitor traffic during the annual flower show in Ooty as it expects tourists to throng the hill town for the show between May 17 and May 21.
At least 70,000 vehicles would hit Ooty from May 16 to May 22. “During the annul flower show, we will use five helicams to control traffic at important junctions in Ooty. The helicams would send feeds of traffic flows to the police control room and alert officials of traffic jams,” Nilgiris superintendent of police D Shanmuga Priya told TOI.
The helicams would be used at Lovedale Junction, Government Botanical Garden Road, Doddabetta Junction, Finger Post Junction and Charing Cross Junction

Besides, 15 patrolling bikes would be deployed to clear traffic once they were alerted about traffic jams by the the police control room, the SP said.
The 123rd edition of the annual flower show will be inaugurated on May 17 at Government Botanical Garden. The show will conclude on May 21.
