The father of a senior police officer was killed in a road accident near Moontradaippu in the small hours of Tuesday.
The police said P. Rathnasabhapathi, 65, of Seethappal in Kanniyakumari district, father of R. Sudhakar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), South Chennai, was returning to his native place from Chennai in a car with his younger son, daughter-in-law, and two-year-old granddaughter, when the accident happened.
While Rathnasabhapathi died on the spot, the others escaped with minor injuries.
They were admitted to a private hospital.
