That’s the reason it’s so vital to celebrate National Tourism Week that unites communities to observe how travel contributes in creating job opportunities, the economy, and personal well being.
Jackson’s new Miss and Little Miss Hospitality on Tuesday were crowned in front of City Hall.
In Jackson, around 7,000 jobs are directly supported by travel and tourism. The City of Jackson even got a big check.
“A lot of times the citizens of the city don’t see what leaders are doing, or what visitors are seeing,” said Visit Jackson’s Destination Development Manager Kim Lewis. “Today, we were able to provide a check to the mayor for $92.4 million.”
The check represents the estimated financial impact on the visitor number and delegates that come to Jackson.
For all week, special events are designed to celebrate National Travel and Tourism week, rounding out with Food Truck Friday at Smith Park.
