RTO drive to clear pending auto permit applications by July 12

PUNE: There is a long waiting list for permits for autorickshaws, with many applicants getting appointments in January next year due to a staff shortage at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune. Now, the RTO has started a special drive to clear pending applications. It aims to clear the pendency by July 12 this year.

Regional Transport Officer Sanjay Raut said, “There is a huge pendency of online appointments for autorickshaw permits. Applicants were getting appointments in January 2020. In order to clear all pending appointments, special drive has been launched. Those who already have the appointment can visit our office on the scheduled dates with documents.”

Raut said only 125 online appointments are given daily. Applicants are getting an appointment for January or February next year. “Those who have appointments in May this year can come to us between May 13 and 17. Similarly, we are clearing all nine months’ pending appointments. If one gets January 2020 appointment, they can come by July 8 to 12,” he said. 

The applicants have to carry documents including the original and a photocopy of the sample of P CO PA form, licence and badge and receipt of Rs 500, address proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID card, electricity bill etc), a character certificate, an affidavit and a passport-sized photograph.
