Mumbai: Corporator held taking bribe in Mira Road

MUMBAI: A Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MB-MC) corporator and his accomplice were arrested for taking a bribe to turn a blind eye to an alleged illegal structure. Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped Kamlesh Bhoir (Shiv Sena) in his office at Munshi Compound, Mira Road, on Monday. Labourer contractor, Gorakh Sharma (48), was also arrested.
Bhoir and Sharma had allegedly demanded Rs25,000 from the complainant. The complainant approached ACB, who told him to play along with Bhoir. The corporator agreed to take the first instalment of Rs10,000 on Monday, when he was trapped with Sharma.
