India Inc. posts 9 percent Y-o-Y growth in talent demand in April 2019.

The online hiring activity posted 9 percent Y-o-Y growth and 2 percent M-o-M gain in April 2019, reports TimesJobs RecruiteX. April 2019 is the fourth consecutive month since January 2019 to witness an uptick in the Y-o-Y comparison of the online hiring activities. Also, the report highlights that April 2019 Y-o-Y performance (9 percent) is better than March 2019 (7 percent).
Healthcare/Biotechnology sector is bullish on hiring
The Healthcare/Biotechnology sector posted the highest talent demand (at 12 percent growth) in April 2019 over March 2019. The Healthcare/Biotechnology sector was also among the top three hiring sectors in March 2019. In the sector-wise analysis, Petrochemicals/Oil and Gas and Projects/Infrastructure sector recorded 11 percent and 9 percent M-o-M growth, respectively.
The Y-o-Y comparison of April 2019 to April 2018 tells that IT/Telecom, BFSI and Healthcare/Biotechnology were the top three hiring sectors. However, in April 2019, the talent demand in high-volume sectors such as IT and BFSI was flat to negative.
Sanjay Goyal, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGigsaid, “India Inc. is positive about hiring, especially in the sectors such as Healthcare/Biotechnology and Petrochemicals/Oil & Gas. Historically, these sectors experience moderate to slow job growth rate but this time they are leading the demand. A detailed study of the index shows that talent demand in April 2019 was better than March 2019.”
A study of talent demand in April 2019 revealed that Doctors/Nurses were most sought after, followed by Engineers and Logistics professionals. In April 2018, Sales/Business Development, IT/Telecom and Customer Services/ Tele Calling roles were in demand.
The location-wise analysis of talent demand in April 2019 showed that most jobs were posted for Jaipur. After that, Lucknow was in the second spot, followed by Chandigarh. Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru were the top job hubs among the metropolitan cities.
Senior professionals with more than 20 years of work experience were most in demand in April 2019, followed by professionals with 10-20 years of work experience. In April 2018 too, senior professionals with more than 20 years of work experience were most in demand.
