Combating pollution, focus on rural areas are a few promises

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday released constituency-wise manifestos of South Delhi and North West Delhi Lok Sabha seats.

The party had released a Delhi manifesto last month and announced that they will come out with constituency-wise manifestos. On Monday, AAP had released two other constituency-wise manifestos.

Releasing the South Delhi manifesto, candidate Raghav Chadha said that he will ensure a “Gundaraj Mukt South Delhi”.

“I will make South Delhi gunda-raj mukht (free) and warn these BJP thugs: Your days of thuggery and bullying are over in the next five days,” Mr. Chadha said.

The 34-page AAP manifesto includes a promise to combat pollution caused by crop-burning in other States and arrive at an inter-state solution to pan-North India air pollution problem, push for an automated and systematic water wastage monitoring system and setting up of ‘Mahila Panchayats’ in the constituency’s unauthorised colonies to train women on legal issues and laws related to crimes against women.

Other commitments in the manifesto include bringing together technology companies and NGOs with State authorities to build capacity and exchange knowledge on how to improve waste management, prohibiting open air garbage burning in South Delhi to curb pollution, increasing recruitment of paramedics and doctors in all mohalla clinics and hospitals, and installing solar panels on public toilets as part of AAP’s eco-friendly approach to development.

AAP North West Delhi candidate Gugan Singh released his manifesto which focuses on rural areas and affordable education in the constituency.

He promised higher education and technical education institutions in the areas if elected to power. The manifesto also promised 150 new mohalla clinics, a dialysis centre and 20 poly clinics. His other focus areas are law and order, jobs, and parks.

Mega roadshow

AAP said that to take its final campaign to the grassroots, the party will organise roadshows in all 70 Assembly constituencies on Thursday and Friday.

Addressing the media, AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai said the third phase of party’s campaign will conclude on Wednesday evening with the roadshow of AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“After three phases of intense campaigning, the party has decided to give the campaign a final push with the roadshows in all 70 Assembly segments. These roadshows will be led by the respective MLAs in their constituencies and in those constituencies where the party is not represented by MLAs, the Vidhan Sabha in-charges will lead the roadshows,” he said.
