Kerala higher secondary results out, 84.33% declared pass

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The pass percentage in Kerala higher secondary examination, the results of which were announced here on Wednesday, recorded a slight increase compared to the previous year. The percentage of candidates who have been declared eligible for higher studies this year is 84.33 as against the last year’s 83.75 percentage.
The results have been announced here by general education secretary A Shajahan in the presence of other officials concerned. Owing to the prevalence of model code of conduct in connection with the general elections, general education minister C Raveendranath chose not to attend the news conference.
As many as 183 candidates secured 1200 score out of 1200 and 14244 students for A+ in all subjects. Of the total 369238 school going students appeared for the higher secondary examination in March 2019, 311375 become eligible for higher studies. Results statistics reveal that the pass percentage among girl students is way above that of boys. While 91.15 percent of girl students become eligible for higher studies, the percentage of boys who secured enough marks to become eligible for higher studies is only 76.60.
The statistics for the various streams show that in the science stream 154112 (86.04 %) students become eligible for higer studies. Pass percentage in humanities and commerce are 79.82 and 84.65 respectively.
In the sector wise result, aided sector tops with 86.36 %, followed by government sector (83.04 %) and unaided sector (77.34 %) respectively.
Eligibility of higher studies is D+ or above grade for all subjects with 30 % scores in theory and alone and an aggregate total of 30 percent in theory, practical evaluation and continuous evaluation taken together.
Among the districts, Kozhikode topped the list with a pass percentage of 87.44 %. The district with lowest pass percentage is Pathanamthitta (78 %). Malappuram district has the highest number of students (1865) winning A+ grade for all subjects.
The vocational higher secondary, technical higher secondary and arts higher secondary examination results have also been announced. The pass percentage in vocational higher secondary is 80.07 %, technical education is 69.72% and that of arts higher secondary is 93.59 %.
The single window mechanism for Plus One admission would begin on May 10. Plus One classes, for the first time, would start along with other school classes on June 3.
