District secures the third highest pass percentage in the State

Schools in Ernakulam district won the distinction of having the third highest pass percentage in the State in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination.

Even though the district slipped from the first position in terms of pass percentage achieved last year, it ended up third this time with a total pass percentage of 99.06. The corresponding figure last year was 99.12.

Of the 32,388 students who wrote the exam, 32,082 became eligible for higher studies. Of them, 4,220 students belonged to government schools, while 24,065 came from aided schools and 3,797 from unaided schools.

As many as 209 schools won 100%, of which 72 were government schools. Ninety-nine aided schools won 100% pass in the revenue district, while the corresponding figure in the unaided category was 38.

According to official data, 2,887 students bagged A-plus in all subjects. Girls topped the list of students with A-plus in all subjects. Of the total 2,887 A-plus winners in all subjects, 2,107 were girls. As many as 780 boys won A-plus in all subjects in Ernakulam.

In the government schools category, 200 students won A-plus in all subjects, of whom 159 were girls and 41 boys. Students of aided schools had topped those with A-plus in all subjects, with 1,586 girls and 533 boys earning the distinction. Among unaided schools, 362 girls won A-plus in all subjects, while the number of boys with A-plus in all subjects was 206.

In the results for the educational sub-district-wise category, Muvattupuzha bagged 100%. Of the 3,692 students who appeared for the exam, 3,686 became eligible for higher studies. Four-hundred-and-seventy students won A-plus in all subjects. Kothamangalam sub-district won a pass percentage of 100. Of the 5,503 students who wrote the exam, 5,476 passed. The number of students with A-plus in all subjects was 535.

Aluva educational sub-district bagged a pass percentage of 99 after 12,025 of the 12,099 students became eligible for higher studies. The number of students who won A-plus in all subjects was 1,186.

Ernakulam educational sub-district bagged a pass percentage of 98 after 10,895 of the 11,094 students became eligible for higher studies. The number of students who won A-plus in all subjects was 696.
