“Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro expected to feature quad-rear camera setup, powered by the 7nm Kirin 980 SoC, and pack in-display fingerprint sensor”
Huawei sub-brand Honor is scheduled to launch the Honor 20 series flagships at an event on May 21st in London. The company is expected to launch at least three variants of the phone, a standard Honor 20, the Honor 20 Pro, and a limited edition Honor 20 Moschino Edition. Now, ahead of the launch, promotional banners detailing the camera specifications of both the handsets surfaced online. This also reveals sensor details and additional features as well.
According to the leak, the Honor 20 Pro will have a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.4 aperture, a secondary 16-megapixel ultra wide angle shooter with 117-degree field of view, and f/2.2 aperture, an 8MP third telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, OIS, and f/2.2 aperture, lastly a 2MP quad 3D ToF sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 1.75um pixel size. The rear cameras are accompanied by laser autofocus and LED flash and are expected to be backed by tons of AI-assisted features including an improved AI night mode. Both the telephoto and primary sensors on the Honor 20 Pro are equipped with 4-axis optical image stabilisation.
On the other hand, contrary to the numerous leaks and reports, the standard Honor 20 is also seen sporting a quad camera setup, which is surprising. The handset’s quad camera setup consists of a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 1.6um pixel size and 4-in-1 Light fusion technology, a 16MP super wide angle lens with 117-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor replaces the telephoto lens of the Pro variant and finally a 2MP Macro lens with f/2.4 aperture and 1.75um pixel size.
As for the other specifications, both the handsets are expected to be powered by the 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI skin on top, and could be offered in different RAM and storage options. Since everything is based on rumours and leaks, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt until an official announcement from Honor is made.
