HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who plans to hurtle himself into national politics with his
Federal Front ambition, on Monday visited Thiruvananthapuram and met Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. However, an appointment with DMK leader M K Stalin on May 13 in Chennai has yet to be confirmed as Stalin is reportedly occupied in the bypolls to the Tamil Nadu assembly.
Before he left Hyderabad, he had a telephonic conversation with Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy who reportedly called
KCR personally on learning about the latter’s planned visits to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
In Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan of CPM heads the Left Democratic Front government.
The TRS chief has held meetings with leaders of various parties across states to push for a non-Congress, non-BJP Federal Front at the Centre.
KCR, who went to Kerala with his family members, also visited the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple. He was accompanied by Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar and Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar.
During his campaign, both in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections, KCR was critical of the Congress and the BJP saying that the country needs an alternative front. He proposed a coalition of regional parties which he described as ‘Federal Front’. He met West Bengal chief minister and TMC chief
Mamata Banerjee, Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former prime minister Deve Gowda of the
Janata Dal (Secular), Odisha chief minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik, DMK president M K Stalin and former Uttar Pradesh CM and Samajwadi Party chief
Akhilesh Yadav, among others.
“KCR believes that the right picture, which will emerge after the election results are out, will place the Federal Front in a position to dictate who should form the government at the centreC” a TRS leader said.
According to TRS sources, KCR also believes that the parties which are now currently associated with the Congress and the BJP, will distance themselves from them to be part of the Federal Front.
